This book was so good! I visited a friend at George Fox to be her study buddy and I overlooked the fact that I’d have nothing to do what I sat with her in the library so I asked to borrow the first book I saw sitting on her end table, it turned out to be this one. I just read it in under 2 hours on the way home from Nana and Pop’s house, it’s the Sunday after thanksgiving. I thought the poetry was so beautiful. My favorite line from the book is this:
There had been no months with names, only the time of tying canes amidst the ghosts of grapes and gray days that never warmed.

I like how the book didn’t play up any romance or focus too long on any emotional disputes or settle on the anger. I love when a writer does a good job of showing instead of telling. The description of all the different dishes that the characters cooked had my mouth watering and my head dreaming up a simpler version I could make myself.
And a fun part was the last page had more book recommendations including A Snicker Of Magic and Out of the Dust and A Night Divided and even George, which I forgot I read but now I remember how I did with so much confusion in 7th grade.
